2025 Preakness Stakes morning-line odds, picks, post time: Bets from expert with a history of Triple Crown success

CBS Sports analyst Tim Doyle, who correctly called Mage to win the 2023 Run for the Roses, has made his picks and bets for the 150th Preakness Stakes on Saturday at Pimlico Race Course

Bob Baffert can add to his record number of wins by a trainer in the Preakness Stakes when he sends out the undefeated Goal Oriented in the 2025 Preakness on Saturday at Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore, Md. The 72-year-old Baffert has won the second jewel of the Triple Crown eight times, one more than D. Wayne Lukas. On Saturday Baffert goes for No. 9 with Goal Oriented, who is a perfect 2-for-2 in his career. He is a 6-1 longshot in the 2025 Preakness Stakes odds. Meanwhile Kentucky Derby runner-up Journalism (8-5), fan favorite Sandman (4-1), the Todd Pletcher-trained River Thames (9-2) and Hot Springs Stakes speedball Clever Again (5-1) are the top four choices among the nine 2025 Preakness Stakes horses. Post time for the $2 million Preakness Stakes 2025 is 7:01 p.m. ET.

With several talented but inexperienced 3-year-olds entering the starting gate on Saturday, you NEED to see what CBS Sports analyst Tim Doyle has to say before making any 2025 Preakness Stakes picks. Join SportsLine here to get his full breakdown.

Doyle is an experienced horse bettor, having lived less than 20 miles from both Belmont Park and Aqueduct Racetrack in New York. He prefers to play multirace wagers, from doubles to Pick 6s. And in 2020, he had the biggest score of his life, hitting a $150,000 Pick 5 at Oaklawn Park.

During the 2023 Triple Crown, Doyle was on fire. He correctly called 15-1 longshot Mage to win the Kentucky Derby and 8-1 longshot Arcangelo to win the Belmont Stakes. Anyone who has followed him is way up. Join SportsLine here to see what he's picking for the Preakness Stakes.

For Saturday, Doyle has handicapped the 2025 Preakness Stakes field, made his picks and constructed his bets.

One surprise: Doyle is completely fading Sandman, even though he is the 4-1 second choice. "He finished seventh in the Kentucky Derby, which isn't bad, but he will be too far back to win this race," Doyle told SportsLine. Doyle will not be using Sandman in any of his wagers. See whom else to pick and avoid here.

Instead, Doyle's top pick in the Preakness is a horse who "will be in a perfect stalking spot." He also is high on a double-digit longshot whose trainer thinks "could run big." Doyle is including these horses in his 2025 Preakness Stakes bets, and so should you. You ABSOLUTELY NEED to see his picks before locking in any of your own.
